Sunday Sermon August 9th, 2026

Every guest list answers a fundamental question: Who belongs at the table?

In week two of the "Glimpses: A Vision for Flourishing" series, Pastor Keith McMillan preaches through Luke 14:12–14, examining how Jesus confronts society's small vision of community. While the world naturally builds guest lists around status, comfort, and mutual benefit, Jesus insists that the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind belong at His table.

Outlined are three major paradigm shifts Jesus calls us to make:

1. From Utility to Dignity: Rejecting our culture's lie that human worth is tied to productivity, and re-anchoring every person's value in the Imago Dei (Image of God).

2. From Debate to Hospitality: Moving away from political or ideological debates about poverty and pulling up a chair to build real relationships.

3. From Half-Truths to a Full Gospel: Avoiding both an "Armless Gospel" (which preaches spiritual truth while ignoring physical needs) and a "Heartless Gospel" (which seeks social reform while ignoring human sin and the Cross).

Every time we welcome someone that the world overlooks, every time we choose hospitality over distance, every time we proclaim Christ and embody His love, we are telling the truth about who God is and what His world is moving toward."
